What a journey!
I have always been interested in health education, and therefore pursued and obtained a BS degree in Health & Physical Education.
However, right out of college I was presented with an opportunity to work for a very large Fortune 500 company. At the time, it was "an offer that I couldn't refuse". I advanced extraordinarily well and gained invaluable experience in the areas of client relations and business operations. The trials and tribulations of the ‘90s – corporate layoffs and increased demands on personal time - lead me to take a serious look at life. My goal was to find a way for myself and others to better deal with the stresses of everyday life.
In 1997, I graduated from the Baltimore School of Massage, and passed an extensive exam administered by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB). I am fully licensed and regulated through the State of Maryland, Department of Health & Mental Hygiene, State Board of Chiropractic & Massage Therapy Examiners.
Just after graduation, I started a part time business – An Alternative Touch Therapeutic Massage. As my client base grew, I found it easy in 2002, to sever my ties with “Corporate America” and opened a full time office.
Since then, the synergistic combination of experience in both business and bodywork has helped me to enjoy the most rewarding career that anyone could imagine! In my previous life, both short and long term goals were very difficult, if not impossible, to measure. Today, feedback is instantaneous! When my clients come from the massage room wearing that “massagie face”, I immediately see the results of my work! Relaxed, pain free and almost catatonic – I know I’ve made a difference!
As our friends at ‘Life is Good’® put it… Do what you like… Like what you do…
